Island style tactics on my first dive in continental USA. Such a rad experience diving in kelp, unreal scenery especially when backlit by sunlight. Couldn’t find the right one but with the season heating up looking forward to getting back out there!

Absolute heartbreak after losing what would’ve been my biggest Hawaiian Uku probably forever!! Still such a rad experience to see a fish like this in Hawaii. Thankfully @grace_schreck picked up the slack and provided once again!!

Gracie’s first doggie...teamwork makes the dream work! We spent all day drifting this 40 meter ledge but struggled to get the school of doggies to come within range. On the last drift I sent it to the bottom of the drop off and shot a uku, hoping this would bring up one of these fish. Grace dove on the uku and placed a nice holding shot but got muzzle wrapped and was now fighting this fish to the surface. I met her half way and we swam up together. From there Grace took care of business and landed her first doggie…

As a guide you have to be prepared to handle anything! My client shot a snapper that got rocked up at 34 meters. On the surface they told me a shark had eaten the fish but got tangled in the shooting line and was pinned to the reef. Thankfully I was able to free the shark from the bottom and bring him to the surface where I cut the line, all while managing to keep my fingers where they belong!
