Georgia Releases 2026-2027 Hunting and Fishing Regulations Guide

Georgia’s 2026-2027 Hunting and Fishing Regulations and Seasons guide is now available online and in print through the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division.

It is not the most exciting reading you will do all summer, but it may be the most important. The guide includes hunting season dates, bag limits, Wildlife Management Area rules, quota hunts, youth hunting opportunities, license information, trout stream listings, Public Fishing Area information, freshwater and saltwater fish identification charts, state record fish listings, and other fishing regulations.

Every season, somebody gets caught flat-footed because they are running on last year’s memory, a buddy’s text, or what used to be legal when they were growing up. That is a bad way to hunt and a worse way to defend hunting. Rules change. Dates shift. WMA details matter. Quota hunts have deadlines. Fish identification can make the difference between a legal cooler and a citation.

None of that means sportsmen should blindly accept every regulation as perfect. Bad rules should be challenged, and agencies should be held accountable when management does not match the resource. But the first step is knowing the rules as they stand before you walk into the woods or drop a line.
