Idaho Closes Chinook Salmon Fishing on the South Fork Salmon River

Idaho Chinook anglers need to check the rulebook before they fish. All Chinook salmon fishing on the South Fork Salmon River closed at the end of fishing hours on July 29 under an Idaho Fish and Game closure order.

Salmon seasons are not set-and-forget regulations. They move with run strength, harvest share, conservation needs, and in-season monitoring. That can be frustrating when a trip is planned, but it is also how managers keep opportunity on the table without pretending the resource is unlimited.

The practical message is simple: do not rely on last week’s information.
