South Carolina Deer-Dog Forums Conclude With No Immediate Rule Changes

South Carolina's public forums on deer hunting with dogs have wrapped up. The immediate takeaway for hunters: the meetings did not change the rules. Current deer-dog hunting laws remain in place, and normal enforcement continues.

SCDNR is compiling a report from the public discussions, covering property rights, land use and hunting traditions. The finished report is intended for state lawmakers. These were information-gathering meetings, not the adoption of a new hunting season or a new set of restrictions.

Attendance included hundreds of houndsmen and other outdoor advocates. The Walterboro meeting drew enough interest that organizers moved it to a larger venue. With the forums finished, the next document to watch is the agency's report.
