Kings Bluff Access to Close October 12 for Osage River Ramp Repairs

Anglers planning an October trip on the Osage River should account for a temporary closure at Kings Bluff Access. The Missouri Department of Conservation announced September 24 that the access will close beginning October 12 for boat ramp repairs.

The closure is expected to last through the beginning of November while construction is underway. That is an estimated construction window, not a guaranteed reopening date. Check the area’s current status before towing a boat there later in the fall.

During the work, MDC directs river users to Bagnell Dam Access as an alternative way onto the Osage. Plan the launch around that change rather than arriving at Kings Bluff and counting on access through the work area. The announcement concerns Kings Bluff Access; it does not announce a riverwide fishing closure.

A working ramp is basic fishing infrastructure, and keeping one in service sometimes requires a short-term loss of access. In this case, the useful planning details are straightforward: October 12 is the scheduled closure date, early November is the expected end of the work window, and Bagnell Dam Access is the agency’s suggested alternative.
